Lazaro Morejon My group #3     While we were preparing for this group presentation there seem to be a lot of discomfort specially with me because I honestly do not like presenting to other people and interacting with others, but as time went on our group started getting used to each other and now we have good communication skills and know what to do for the presentation. Specially since Iliana is a great leader to our group helping us with what we need to do, and she isn’t shy to voice her opinion on what we can do better within our group. I will say this was a learning experience because at the beginning of our presentation I was trying to screen share and I had some technical difficulties but me and my group talked it over and we’re goin to rotate who gets to screen share next time. It truly was fun working on this presentation because it helped step out of my comfort zone and was able to learn different skills thanks to the chapter I was placed to do. My favorite presentati...

Daniel De La Rosa: Reflections on Our Class Presentations

Daniel De La Rosa Reflections on Our Class Presentations This semester, our oral communication class was unlike any other I’ve taken. Instead of sitting through lectures, we took on the responsibility of teaching one another. Each group presented sections of Public Speaking: The Evolving Art (5th edition, by Stephanie J. Coopman and James Lull), dividing the seventeen chapters among four groups. What could have been a routine class turned into something closer to a mini-conference, where every student had a voice and a chance to lead. I didn’t know what to expect at first, but looking back, I can honestly say I enjoyed the presentations. They were interactive, creative, and gave me insights that went far beyond just memorizing information from a textbook. My Group: Chapters 9–12 My group was responsible for Chapters 9–12 , which covered visual aids, special occasion speeches, speaking in groups, and the effective use of language. We divided the chapters so that each of us be...

Growing Through Public Speaking

Daniela Arrazcaeta Growing Through Presentations: Lessons in Public Speaking      I came into this public speaking class with genuine excitement. For a long time, I had been shy and timid. I would say something in a conversation, then spend hours replaying it in my head, doubting myself, and wondering if I should have said it differently. That cycle made me realize how much I wanted to improve, not just in how I spoke, but in the confidence behind my words. So when I saw that this class would allow me to learn the psychology of presenting and the techniques of communication, I knew it was the perfect opportunity.      I’m an ambitious person with many dreams. I’m currently studying with the hope of becoming a doctor one day, but I also dream of opening beauty businesses. In both of these paths, presentation is essential. As a doctor, the way you present yourself creates trust and confidence between patient and physician. Presentation also matters in ...

Blog Reflection on Class Projects Presentations

Iliana Reyes Araman Blog Reflection on Class Projects Presentations      One thing I really enjoyed in this Public Speaking class was the group presentations and the strong support our professor gave us each time. That support made us feel comfortable and confident. These presentations allow us to share what we know and demonstrate how creative and resourceful everyone is. I liked that each group brought something unique. I'm not saying it was perfect, but even though we all faced some challenges, such as my group’s minor issue with visuals, it was inspiring to see everyone work together and understand the material. These projects taught me that teaching and speaking are more than just reading from a script. It’s about teamwork, creativity, and connecting with others. I want to share my thoughts on each group, what I liked, and what I learned from watching them. Setting the Stage: Group 1’s Foundation      Group one started things off with some of the...
